LONGING

Image
The Place of Longing In the place of longing and despair I weep out my cries Of desperation In my tears My heart calls to YOU With the intense passion Of lovesick pain There MUST be more than this! There has to be MORE. For I know who You are I’ve met You in the secret place Of intimate union Yet here I stand once again Heart aching Spirit searching My being longing Longing Longing Tears falling Waiting Waiting Aching Please come to me Please come Please Copyright K Laity  January 2019

Edge of the World

Image
I’m pulled to the edge of the world The wild place, high places Cliff edges and raging rivers I’m pulled to the wilderness Where few venture or tread I’m pulled to the thin places Where God’s breath has led On the edge of the world My heart is free To soar and lift beyond despondency To see in creation a loving hand That charts my life And guides my stand Here on the edge by sea cliff River dip or mountain peak I wait expectantly for You I draw near in the wilderness Longing for Your voice Aching to experience the measure The saints before have had Something compelled them to venture far At risk of death To share God’s love A power far greater Than work of man Led them to travel and never return A fire in their bellies A cause too great to spurn A righteous endeavour Calling out greatness and love To wander as pilgrims As hermits, as friends To endeavour together Until life’s end To have their blood sp...

Let's Journey Together

Image
Let’s journey together my friend Walk by my side. Let me hold you up in faith, So you don’t stagger and fall. Give me the blessing of giving to you My compansionship As you journey through I don’t want you to stay In the valley of tears But help you walk out Into the light of years You say your faith Is dim and weak Let me lift you on mine So that you once more can climb For I know He’s waiting Patiently for you To turn your face to His So He will get you through Then one day when I am weak Perhaps you’ll take my hand And we will travel together still. copyright K Laity 9/1/19

Overshadow Me Overshadow me As my path stretches out into Unknown tracts I hasten towards The call Of my heart Yet craving Your company All the while at my right hand In the uncharted way Where life and death Intertwine In the mystery of this calling My heart leaps forward Racing in anticipation Joyous in its leap Yet though enthralled Fear pricks my neck As unbeknown to me I am stalked By beast in the natural And In the unseen realm, others What way is this? So harsh, so true I am called Yet cannot fathom The depth to which I am called I cannot resist I cannot return So forging onwards I carry my courage In You alone Be always at my right hand Overshadow me Overshadow me In the mists of the morning Rising to greet you Overshadow me Overshadow me Through the labours of the day When the grind is hard And the fair way Distant to sight Overshadow me As dusk and night approach And...

The Song of Longing

Image
The Song of Longing Sitting on the world’s edge Stilling the restless ache Gazing out Across open expanses Of unruffled ocean Rest oh my soul Stop, listen, rest and wait Sitting on the world’s edge The expanse above uncluttered The seascape vast to the horizon A thinness comes to the atmosphere And I am still Waiting Expectant For in this place Set apart Yet throbbing with anticipation Heaven touches earth Igniting my heart With unbearable burning Yearning To encounter The divine glimpse Of your face The whispering beat Of your heart The undefined cadence Of your soft voice Here at the world’s edge Where the air is thin And I hover in expectation Of unearthly somethings Revealing God to me in the now I wait Expectantly © K Laity 8/1/19

Jeremiah 6:16 This is what the Lord says: ‘Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. GO! Standing on the edge of the world Embracing Your call to GO I kneel before I run to Follow Committing my way to You I feel the wind upon my face I rise to let it lift me Wherever You will blow Out across the ocean of adventure I pilgrim © K Laity 7/1/19
