The Song of Longing
The Song of Longing
Sitting on the world’s edge
Stilling the restless ache
Gazing out
Across open expanses
Of unruffled ocean
Rest oh my soul
Stop, listen, rest and wait
Sitting on the world’s edge
The expanse above uncluttered
The seascape vast to the horizon
A thinness comes to the atmosphere
And I am still
Waiting
Expectant
For in this place
Set apart
Yet throbbing with anticipation
Heaven touches earth
Igniting my heart
With unbearable burning
Yearning
To encounter
The divine glimpse
Of your face
The whispering beat
Of your heart
The undefined cadence
Of your soft voice
Here at the world’s edge
Where the air is thin
And I hover in expectation
Of unearthly somethings
Revealing God to me in the now
I wait
Expectantly
