Overshadow Me

Overshadow me
As my path stretches out into
Unknown tracts
I hasten towards
The call
Of my heart
Yet craving Your company
All the while at my right hand
In the uncharted way
Where life and death
Intertwine

In the mystery of this calling
My heart leaps forward
Racing in anticipation
Joyous in its leap
Yet though enthralled
Fear pricks my neck
As unbeknown to me
I am stalked
By beast in the natural
And
In the unseen realm, others
What way is this?
So harsh, so true
I am called
Yet cannot fathom
The depth to which
I am called
I cannot resist
I cannot return
So forging onwards
I carry my courage
In You alone
Be always at my right hand
Overshadow me

Overshadow me
In the mists of the morning
Rising to greet you
Overshadow me

Overshadow me
Through the labours of the day
When the grind is hard
And the fair way
Distant to sight

Overshadow me
As dusk and night approach
And the howl of wind
Cloaks me out of sight
Overshadow me

Overshadow me
Through the dark night watch
When heart and body rest
And I’m hidden from the light

Overshadow me
Completely in Your heart
So peace envelops me
As I lay apart

Overshadow me

Let’s journey together my friend Walk by my side. Let me hold you up in faith, So you don’t stagger and fall.
